*Formatting for Effect

We write words on a page and without thinking about them much. We create not just images for the reader, but white space, line feeds, paragraphs, and sentences that determine just how the reader will interpret your writing.

In this class, we will learn how to format for effect–from words to sentences to paragraphs to pages to scenes to chapters to novel–we will learn how to effectively format our writing to get the right effect for the reader.

Formatting for Effect doesn’t just work on sentence structure or what makes a good paragraph, etc., but how that sentence structure, paragraph form, scene development, chapter layout, is interpreted by the reader and how we can make it better.
